Healthfit Exercise Clinic - Back care

Back care

Manage pain and improve function

Back care

A common mistake with back injuries is to take it easy and rest. This may be the case if the back injury is acute or you have been advised to do so by your GP. In general, prolonged resting with a back injury can cause stiffness in the spine and neck, weakness and atrophy of muscles and the deterioration of discs and other structures. Our Exercise Physiologists teach you how to move correctly while avoiding pain to improve your spine health.

Prescribed exercise can assist in both preventing and reducing the flare ups associated with chronic back and joint pain. A combined program of actively strengthening your body, stretching and light to moderate weight bearing aerobic exercise can assist not only in the management of pain but also the endurance needed to get through the day’s activities or work.

The Exercise Physiologists at Healthfit work with other health professionals such as your GP or Psychologist to enhance your ability to manage chronic back pain. We design exercise programs that may be done either at the well-equipped Healthfit Exercise Clinic or at home.

We are specialists in both back and joint pain with twenty years experience in dealing with people from various social and economic backgrounds. On a daily basis we assist people with disc pathologies, soft tissue injuries, posture abnormalities, low back pain including sciatica, fractured or fused vertebrae and other problems.
