Exercise to improve wellbeing

Chronic disease management

At Healthfit, we design and prescribe exercise programs to prevent and manage chronic diseases. Chronic diseases include conditions such as:

  • Back pain
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Heart and lung diseases
  • Cancer
  • Obesity
  • Depression and more

Exercise can improve or maintain your health with any of these conditions by keeping your muscles active and blood flowing around your body. Our individualised programs are aimed at normalising blood pressure and enhancing the oxygen transport around the body to optimise your feeling of wellbeing.

Most private health insurance agencies rebate exercise physiology services.

Medicare and Department of Veterans Affairs are now supporting exercise physiology services for physical rehabilitation and disease prevention providing you with greater access to Healthfit Exercise Clinic.

With the Medicare scheme, you may be entitled to up to 5 visits per calendar under an Enhanced Primary Care Plan which is determined by your doctor. These visits may be shared with other allied health professionals including chiropractors, physiotherapists, podiatrists etc.

Some of the costs associated with these sessions are reimbursed by Medicare. Due to the amount of quality time spent with you at the Healthfit Clinic we also charge a small consultation fee.

The Department of Veterans Affairs entitles card holders to individual and group sessions with our Accredited Exercise Physiologists.

A referral from an appropriate health care professional such as your treating doctor is required for members of the veteran community to attend the Healthfit Clinic. The referral is valid for 12 months from the date of referral unless the referring provider has indicated on the referral that treatment is required for a chronic condition and that the referral is an open-ended/ongoing referral.
