Rehabilitation
Research has proven that returning to work or sport after an active exercise program enhances your productivity and ability. At Healthfit, we prepare you mentally, physically and functionally to return to normal day activities. Whether it be work or play, our tailored rehabilitation programs ensures you transition smoothly through our thorough assessment and three-phase program.
Assessment or the initial consultation is the most important part of the exercise program. It is here where we gain a good understanding of the history of your injury or health condition and any previous treatment you have had. Depending on your ability, we can further examine your functional tolerances, aerobic fitness and range of movement. We guide you through the goal setting process and form strategies to help you overcome the barriers towards regular exercise.
Phase 1 is the initial easing phase. This allows you to get the feel for the intensity and duration whilst building confidence to develop a likeable and frequent routine. We offer you detailed instructions on the correct technique and dose for the exercises prescribed by providing photographs and written explanations.
Phase 2 is the challenging phase which pushes your tolerance to increase muscular and breathing effort by upgrading the exercise program. During this phase you progress to more specific functional activities to enhance your return to work or sport.
Communication is an important aspect throughout this phase as we regularly are in contact with the relevant professionals including your insurer, rehabilitation provider, treating doctor, sport coach, physiotherapist etc, to complete a thorough rehabilitation plan and to enhance your success of recovery.
Phase 3 is the maintenance phase where we discuss with you long-term adherence strategies. Exercise programs at this stage of rehabilitation are prescribed to prevent further injury in the workplace or whilst doing your daily tasks. We also offer educational evenings periodically to our members to assist with injury management.

- Recovering from previous sporting or workplace injuries
- Pre and post-operative conditioning
Treatment is very reliant on the best available evidence based practice.
Healthfit also endorses evidence based practice by delivering a personalised educational manual on the current treatment interventions, organisational methods, strategies to enhance motivation and a register to record activity. The manual which is unique to Healthfit has proven to be most effective for long-lasting commitment to goals.
How do I arrange a rehabilitation program?
Exercise rehabilitation programs can be prescribed for any person referred by their doctor on a Workers Compensation or Compulsory Third Party insurance claim. People who are not referred under an insurance claim including those with sporting injuries may simply phone to make an appointment or contact your doctor first. Private Health Fund rebates available – check with your fund.
